Anyone Going to Belarus for Elections?

It seems I ACTUALLY got a Journalist Visa for Belarus, valid for two months multiple entry and everything. Frankly, I’m shocked, I didn’t think it’d happen. Anyway, it looks like I’ll be going next week, around March 16 or so depending on flights from Kiev. Anyone want to share an apartment for a week or anything? The cheapest way to go is to rent an apartment in the centre, some even have internet!

If so, shoot me an email or PM me. don@donaldweber.com

The election will be crazy I think, and its really exiting for us all…wish you all the best,

Don, I had to pass on this one, not enough time to sort out the visa, and they are such a pain in the ass. you call them every day, and they say “please call tomorrow”. I met this Reuters guys from Minsk a little while ago, so if that sounds like good contact in case of emergency drop me a line. and some friends from Poland are going too, but only as far as Grodno, not Minsk.

(speaking of meeting people, I recently had a pleasure of spending an interesting week in the british country side in the company of Louie Palu. it’s a small world!)
