Best option for cheap framing in NYC?
Buy frames and glass down at Pearl Paint and do it yourself. If you’re not using mats don’t forget to buy “spacers” to keep the print from touching the glass. That should be about as cheap as it gets.

really depends on your needs, have made my own frames out of ash, anoline dies, bought the glass, cut the mats….if i had to do it again i’d pass.
these guys framed a show for me and could not have been happier, financially or with the finished pieces. came out to about 50 for a 17×22 print in a 22×29″ frame, ready to hang …..ask for Tommy.

I get my stuff online: mats through light impressions, and american frame for the frames and plexi

Jonathan, how much for a 22×29″ wood frame with cut mat and glass?
|
Ed – Dunno, but they have an online calculator you can use. The matts looked pretty good, but it did take a long time.

I have known people who have had better luck with archival methods instead of Light Impressions. http://www.archivalmethods.com/index.cfm?
I order frames online from American Frame, which is not too bad.

From what I can tell, the plexi is becoming more and more expensive. But buying locally can save on high shipping if it is a large size.

Thanks for the tips guys.
