BGAN Update problems for MAC

Hey Jehad,

Yup, I am having problems too. I downloaded the software from their website no problem ( check to make sure that what you are downloading is not actually a .zip file- for mac I believe it should be a .dmg file), but when I get to the point during installation where you plug into your RBGAN to update the IP Modem, it does not even see that it is there- which is worrisome.

I called Immarsat this morning, but they said don’t call us, call your service provider- great. I have had this run-around at least twice in the past with these guys, my service provider is god awful at providing any kind of support… when they get back to you at all that is.

I have to wait for business hours in the U.S. to talk to them, but I will post what I find out later….

I just downlaoaded it from the Bgan site

It expanded ok from the zip and left me with an empty folder called MACOSX and a disk image called ‘R-BGAN I4 Upgrade for Macintosh 3_14_0.dmg’
As my provider is even worse than Scott’s, my Bgan is out of service right now, so can’t do the update. They sent me an automated message, that I was about to run out of credit and they would auto-cancel my subscription instead of just letting me buy more credit.
So if anybody can recommend a provider, I’m looking for a new one. Can’t really live with dumbasses like this who will shut me down in the middle of an assignment in a matter of 24 hours and have their support be closed over the weekend. Just for the record, it is Danimex, out of Denmark and I cannot recommend them.

All is fixed now – got this from my service provider:

“To try to get you computer to recognize the modem, set the Ethernet port to the following: IP= 192.168.128.10 & Subnet mask= 255.255.255.0. Then after pointing, set the IP back to 192.168.128.100.”

Plug in this IP number in your system pref then you need to re-start your computer so everything is in order and all apps are closed- then the upgrade went for me…… I would also plug your BGAN into the AC adapter while you do this.
