Born into Brothels Screening

The International Education Forum and NYU Residential Education would
like to invite you to join us for a special screening of “Born Into
Brothels”.

Date: Friday, October 21
Where: Silver Center, Rm 405
Time: 7:00 p.m.

Born Into Brothels won the Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2004.
It chronicles the journey of seven children living in the red light
district of Calcutta, where their mothers work as prostitutes.
Photographer Zana Briski gives them a camera, and through their
experiences, reveals the world through a new lens. In the face of
abject poverty, abuse, and despair, these children have little
possibility of escaping their mother’s fate or creating another type of
life. Yet these children of prostitutes embark on a transformational
journey.

We hope that you can join us for a screening of this important movie.
Admission is free and food and drinks will be provided. If you plan on
attending please RSVP to cmv229@nyu.edu.
