Does anyone have any insight as to what specific precautions should be taken while working in Burma? Is it unwise to openly contact NGOs and the NLD for interview requests through their web site?

Hey Branden,
There is much to say so maybe easier if we can talk via Skype. There are cautions to be taken but photographing and interviewing is absolutely possible so don’t be discouraged! Message me anytime. Talk to you soon.

Burma is ok, have just returned, go there with an open heart :) Good luck!
(contacting via phone might work better that via email, from my experience)

Thanks to Branden for asking the question and to Bryan and Lucian.
I’m thinking of going there myself with a journalist in a few months so it’s good to know that it’s apparently OK.

HEy Branden,
I have spent some time there…..though mainly along the Border with Thailand photographing the Karen People and other refugees. Where in Burma are you planning on going?
And if you want to talk via e-mail…drop me a line…
Cheers,
Rob

It depends on where you want to go and what you want to photograph. But photographing culture, daily life, monasteries, streets, people etc… is no problem at all and the people are friendly.

Hey Branden,
I have photographed extensively there. Drop me a PM if you have any more questions. It is opening up more and more day by day.
