Camera Insurance

Any recommendations for decent insurance? I have a history of getting cameras smashed, stolen, or otherwise broken abroad. So really need to get my new 5d properly insured. Planning on taking it fairly soonish to Israel / Palestine, Iran and possibly a few African countries. So insurance would preferably cover those places. Cheers, Jason.

Hi Jason i have a good insurance with a UK agency i need to find their paperwork before i can send you their details when the UK handluggage went off the rails i checked the small print with them and spoke to them on the phone found that my contents are covered even if they had to be stored in the hold. Reassuring if it ever came to that.
I’ll PM or add in this thread as soon as i can find the paperwork in the morning!

nikonians is the way to go if you are in the States (www.niksecure.com). join for $25, and you get great coverage- for any equiment, including Canon- for $150 a year for up to $5000 worth of kit. Zero deductible on everything except theft, which is $250 deductible. All countries covered.

actually it shouldnt matter if you are in the states or not. there are loads of companies offering this in the UK as well though.

I use Photoguard from Pavilion

Their UK/Europe cover can be extended free worldwide for 30 days if you let them know before you leave. Otherwise, the worldwide cover is a bit more expensive. You’re also covered for personal liability while using covered equipment too.
