Chernobyl

Dear friends,
In August, I will be heading to Chernobyl for a short documentary film that features resident of Chernobyl and later Fukushima. I would like to learn more about how the permits work, if there is any access to the Off Limits Area, if anyone has contact with any translators, fixers, guides on the ground. I know there are “touristic” tours to the area but I am by all means trying to avoid these.
Thank you!

I was there in 2006 so this info is probably out of date.
That said those “touristic” tour companies can also organise individual entry for multiple days with an official guide.
Back then I used a travel Company called Sam. Try contacting them through this web page

Contact me if you have any questions.

On the flip side. I’m currently trying to organise access to the Fukushima Exclusion Zone. I don’t suppose you would know how I would do that or know a fixer in the area?

I live in Kiev. It is not possible to be there without tour guide. It is dangerously. High level of radiation in some areas. You can be there without tour only with the papers from government of Ukraine.
