Matt Swarts teaches photo at my college and has some brilliant assignments:

So what is the same old stuff that you are doing?
|
Jonathon: Thanks Jonathan, I’ve email him regarding this.
Tom: Hi Tom, standard dull stuff really. Learning to look discussion guide for example. getting students to partake in close observation, preliminary analysis, Research, and Interpretation.
But I wanted something more specifically aimed at classrom (not darkroom) activities using a student centered approach. Specifically for more traditional techniques such as liquid emulsion, hand colouring, sabattier, infared, cyanotype, collotype, et cetera.
This is within a British syllabus, NVQ Level 3, Unit 27 Experimental Imagery in Photography.
Any Ideas?

Get them to make their own pinhole cameras and see what they can produce with those!!

Thanks John, That’s a great activity, and such fun seeing what can be done. I wonder has anyone every thought of a digital pinhole camera? lol. So I thought I’d have a look and look at this. Using your digital camera to make a pinhole camera. I somehow feel though that this defeats the point of the exercise.

Cheers John,

No problem Al, I’m full of ideas,(most of them are useless!!).
I’ve seen similar digital pinholes before-and of course someone who made an aircraft hangar into a pinhole camera.
Best wishes,
JR.
PS-‘Somewhere’ is just down the road from you near Kettering !!
