http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
You can also create shortcuts on desktop that automatically launch Firefox with different profiles.
Great if someone else uses your computer.

If you like AdBlock. check out All-in-One Gestures extension:

thanks, i took a look at the page, but i have a quesiton. the path to reach the profile manager is as follows:
/Applications/Mozilla.app/Contents/MacOS/mozilla -p (mozilla here his a generic term since its this can apply to other applications as well)
but once i reach firefox.app i’m not sure how i find contents since this is an application and not a folder, i’m assuming i shuold be looking for a further folder after firefox.app? or should i open firefox or do something else with it?…there are firefox folders in my system but with different paths and none with a folder containing contents (i typed contents into the finder and nothing came up in relation to firefox) so at this point i’m a loss about what to do. thanks,
jake

….so in the end i reinstalled firefox and before i replaced the older versions i downloaded adblock, then trashed them, put the new fireox into my apps folder and it seems to be fine happily blocking all the ads that it did before….
