CS3 and Acrobat on a MacBook Pro
|
I loaded CS3 on my MacBook Pro; now I cannot open pdf files when I come across those pages online. The Mac tries to open it and then I get the following message:
“Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional”
Has anyone had this problem and know how to resolve it? Thanks.

i’ve had this problem a lot, but on desktops, not on the laptop… the acrobat is screwed up. One way to open the PDFs is to hold “ctrl” button down and then select “download linked file” and then open that pdf in “Preview.” I don’t have a suggestion for fixing the actual problem, though.

Narayan, thanks alot for the response. I’ve actually been doing that for the last few days.
Just wondered if there was a quick way to remedy the failure of acrobat to open internet pdf’s.

I had the same problem, tried to fix it but it didn’t work so after having to open all my files in preview I ended up just binning Acrobat 8. I just use my old copy of Acrobat 7 now with CS3 with no problems – hope that helps j x

Omar, it’s a known activation bug, I think you have to call Adobe and they have a solution for you over the phone. Something like tht – check the Adobe forums where they talk about it.

Omar, I have discovered that some “unusual” problems with the brand of CS3 that you are using, Eros is having stange problems too, I have traced them to the CS3 software itself…
