I recently tested a few P&Ss including the Cannon G-6, Cannon S70 and the Sony
DSC-V3. The Sony was by far my favorite for it’s ability to take compact flash cards, it’s 7mb size and the speed of focusing and shutter release. However, none of the point and shoots were usable above a 200 iso and both none of the ones I tried were truly pocketable. I finally decided that if I had to carry them on a strap, I was better off with a truly capable
SLR. I went with a Nikon D70 and a small prime lens for my everywhere, all the time, camera. Cannon’s pro-sumer SLRs would be similar. There are some pocketable p&s’s like the Cannon SD300 that have received, good reviews but if you’re going any larger and already have the lenses, I’d consider a Nikon or Cannon lightweight
SLR. Good reviews are available at dpreview.com
Good luck with your search. JLee
