Hi Kevin,
This is a little random, and I know you have already been to Djibouti and back, but I thought I would write to let you know of a great, and fairly unknown, resource for developing country travel. I work for
LCIF, the foundation of Lions Clubs International, on the Lions’ public health care projects in Africa and the Middle East. Anyway, there are Lions clubs all over the world, literally, and the clubs in Africa and South Asia are a wonderful local contact. In these regions, club members are usually prominent members of society-who know (and have access to) everybody and anybody who’s important and can help with pretty much anything. If they can’t help you themselves, they almost always know someone who can.
Just wanted to let you know that that’s out there. You can get contact names and info of Lions in a particular country from anyone at the foundation (www.
LCIF.org), or even online (www.lionnet.com, though this information is not always up to date).
Hope this is helpful.
Take care,
Sonia Pelletreau
