Dobe, Botswana border problems

We got quasi arrested crossing from Tsumkwe, Namibia to Dobe, Botswana. It is an unmarked very small border crossing. The Namibians were fine, but the Botswana police were a huge headache. They insisted that the South African registered vehicle with its disk and chassis information was not sufficient. They demanded a ‘blue book’ of registration, and eventually just the original sheet from which the disk is cut. This is NOT required in Namibia and Botswana but they arrested us and threatened to impound the vehicle. Eventually some high level phone calls got us released. NB. There is also no petrol at Tsumkwe or Nokaneng. You need to fill up at Grootfontein and Gumare respectively.
