Education Week, the respected, independent newspaper of record for K-12 education, is seeking a Director of Photography. The successful candidate will have the ability to brainstorm creative ideas and acquire and edit photos, while managing a small staff. Primary duties include collaborating with editorial and design staff to develop original content for print and online; assigning and producing photo shoots; managing monthly budgets, invoices, and contracts; overseeing color management workflow; and helping to ensure legal and ethical use of photographs and multimedia. Position can include shooting assignments.
Qualifications include at least four years of photo-editing experience with a track record of demonstrated leadership within a news media company. Applicant must have ability to articulate editing choices. Time management, organizational, and prioritization skills are important. Mac and PC proficient with strong software skills in CS3.
