Education Week, the respected, independent newspaper of record for K-12 education, is seeking a Director of Photography. The successful candidate will have the ability to brainstorm creative ideas and acquire and edit photos, while managing a small staff. Primary duties include collaborating with editorial and design staff to develop original content for print and online; assigning and producing photo shoots; managing monthly budgets, invoices, and contracts; overseeing color management workflow; and helping to ensure legal and ethical use of photographs and multimedia. Position can include shooting assignments.

Qualifications include at least four years of photo-editing experience with a track record of demonstrated leadership within a news media company. Applicant must have ability to articulate editing choices. Time management, organizational, and prioritization skills are important. Mac and PC proficient with strong software skills in CS3. Final Cut a plus. Salary commensurate with experience. Generous benefits. Congenial workplace in a vibrant suburb just outside Washington, D.C.
