Hey man,
If you just want a mail program that will download your hotmail to your computer, I’ve heard good things about Thunderbird

Your standard desktop email program in OS 10 should work fine. I pull in my email from various places. Go into preferences and set it up in the accounts section. Shouldn’t be a problem.

To access your hotmail account in Mail.app using POP, you need to download and install the httpd mail plugin, available here http://sourceforge.net/projects/httpmail-plugin/. The download includes instructions.

I just started using Thunderbird. It’s terrific. The thing I like most about it is that I can easily prepare html emails so I can send messages that mirror my website. It also seems very secure.

Microsoft Entourage (part of the Office for mac package) supports hotmail accounts. It treats hotmail just like a POP mail account. I used it for years. Very handy if you have multiple mailboxes with multiple email aliases. The apple mail.app just wasn’t good enough for me until Tiger. The biggest drawback to Entourage is that it’s Microsoft software…
