Thank you for your reply, I thought I would be emailed replies and just saw it.
Actually, I am not the person shooting but the non-profit online publication from the West geared towards a Chinese audience that is looking for freelance fees. (I’d rather not say which, but we are somewhat like BBC Worldwide—although much smaller) We have a rate for photographers here in the West, but we have previously spent very little on photos from China (around 12 US dollars), relying on journalists to send in photos they make themselves to accompany articles. We now want to upgrade quality and get more specific photo assignments done, but have no idea of what we can reasonably ask of freelancers in China, and thus if we can afford it. We are now trying to ask a bunch if people (including this forum) to get an idea of what’s fair.
Let’s say, how much would an assignment of taking a few photos at an event in Beijing cost (for a Beijing-based photographer)? Or a few photos to accompany an interview? If we want to send a photographer out for an assignment (let’s say 2 or 3 days to take photos at a factory near Nanjing), how much would that cost? If you’d rather not publicly state this, please send me a DM or your email and I will contact you separately.
Thanks in advance for any help.
