What’s the simplest way to mount my WinXP (Home) computer on my Mac’s desktop? I thought it would be as simple as turning on sharing on the PC and then browsing to it on the desktop (in "Network)… but there’s nothing there. Anyone out there know what I should do?
I think Greg Choat is the only possible contender to the throne.
if he can’t help you, maybe you have to consult that oracle that the Dalai Lama uses. it would be cool to get those guys on board as well.
To answer my own question, it turns out that the Mac (10.3.5, anyway) can’t automatically discover local SMB shares unless there’s a Primary Domain Controller (PDC) present to broadcast them. The workaround is very easy — you just go to Directory Access and manually select the local Workgroup in SMB preferences.
