Dear Patrick

A few days ago on this site two colleagues and I have warmly recommended Bappi Majumder. You can contact him directly at baptism@yahoo.com. Spell out what you want, for how long and when.
Best wishes

Hi Patrick,
I work as a fixer/interpreter for foreign
film makers/researchers professionally
with a journalism background. Please contact me if you are planning to come to
Bangladesh for any assignment. I am very affordable and flexible with the schedules.

Hey we are traveling to Chittagong this week and will be with camera and sound equipment. Hoping to receive our visa on arrival (us passports). Will we have any problems at immigration? Any paper work or other preparation anyone can recommend?

The rules of visa on arrival change all the time. Before you could get one only if you were coming from a country where there was no Bangladesh Embassy. But I understand the rules have softened. I am sure you checked with the visa section of the Bangladesh Embassy in Karachi or Islamabad if you qualified.
If you go to Chittagong City no problem if you plan to of to the CHT then you need to fax to the DC office of the district you will visit your passport number and name, the date of arrival and route. . If you stay in Rangamati, Bandarban or Kagrachari city, fine. If you plan to travel then you will need a police escort that you have to pay for.
If you enter the country as a tourist, fine. Just carry your equipment at the airport in a non-pofessional looking bags. If you declare yourself as journalist or video makers then you need a lot of authorizations and you will have a minder with you all the time.
Have fun in Sonar Bangla

and of course, remember to prevent malaria with mosquito nets, long sleeves and repellent and chemoprophylaxis if you travel to the field in the CHT.
