Focus For Humanity NGO grant

ello everyone
Did you ever heard about it?

http://www.focusforhumanity.org/grants/ngo-grants/

To participate you have to register and pay $ 25

Focus For Humanity NGO grant will sponsor the best project-according to their Judges-which involve the collaboration between an NGO and a Photographer.

I decided to give it a go.
I paid my registration fee I contacted some NGOs i found one interested.
I met several time the NGOs partners to discuss project write it down, they wrote an endorsement letter ( as requested in the application form),
edited, added required exemplar images and sent before the deadline which was 1 December 2013.

“The results will be posted by early January 2014” ( written on the Focus for Humanity website)

Well it is Mid February now but didn’t hear anything from them.
There are no contact emails for any enquiry there is just a telephone number apparently based in Singapore which rings but nobody answer….

I am curious to know if anyone applied for this grant this year or in the past and can let me know how reliable this Focus For Humanity organization its founders and judges are….

It doesn’t sound promising to me … but I ll give it a chance
Thanks in advance
Scari

Yes, I have pay the 25 dollar. I don’t know if it is a scam but the guy, Marco Ryan is totally unorganized. After I have pay my fee, I find out on the website that nothing was available. So I send to him an email asking where are the NGOs for partnership, etc.

He answer me; For the moment there is no NGO and no contest available. So I told him that this is false representation, etc. He got mad at me complaining that he was doing all this for the sake of humanitarian and on a volunteer basis, blablabla…

I managed to have my $25 refund but it took several weeks.

Also on his FB page and group you won’t see any updates since last November. People asking questions but he never answer. it is open group so you can see the posts.

Hi Yves,
I found the link to the FFH on David Campbel blog and I contacted him and this is his answer:

“Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Obviously I provide links only and do not have any knowledge of how
this organisation operates.
But I will check and if there are problems remove them from the list.
DC”

I will let him know.
P
ersonally I am more bothered by the fact I had to spend time and NGOs partners time to work on the application process and on the proposal.
It sadden me the fact this man Marco Ryan didn’t bother to write a simple email telling the state of the things.

I would be curious to know how many people participated to the contest and if it is the case to claim the money back.

Andrea, this is also part of what I have try to explain to Marco. Why you ask for money if you have nothing to offer or at least make it visible on your website so people have the choice to pay anyway or to wait until your organization is fully operational. This is the point that he get mad at me, etc. Kind of strange, like if he need money to set up his organization…

…plus the organization FFH is up and running since a while now…

was also hoping to apply for this but held off thankfully. if someone has a contact email perhaps i can just ask straight up if there is or is not a contest for this year and if not that he should make clear that they’re taking a year off.

Hi Shadi,
Marco Ryan is the man behind the FFH website and grant.
I found this, sent an email but no reply yet : marco.ryan@accenture.com
Now a profile on " Survive Digital Disruption" website have also a British mob number and a Singapore number…while his profile on model Mayhem states is based in Frankfurt

For me Marco Ryan a crook, he should have take action and close the website or just write a warning note of the “temporary suspended grant” when Yives contacted him and pretended his money back.

@ Andrea,

Sorry I forgot to update. Didn’t tough that this post would come back so I did not bother to confirm that after asking him several times, he finally refund me my $25.
