Geo-Cultural Magazines

Dear friends, I worked on a cultural story on indigenous Tamangs from Nepal, talking on the challenge of modernity for indigenous cultures. Does anybody knows sort of Geo magazines which could be interesting in publishing cultural stories of this kind. Beside NG and GEO I don’t know much.. IN case let me know and thanks a lot.

Don’t write off Geo or NG. Each has its spin-off and subject-related magazines (for example, NatGeo Traveller, and various country-specific magazines). Consider also some more academic magazines, such as those focusing on anthropology or sociological issues.

Hello Nicola; Sounds like an interesting story. Have you posted the work anywhere? I would be interested to see the images.

Try these they might be of interest:
Orion http://www.orionmagazine.org
Smithsonian http://www.smithsonianmag.com
and GEO – the German and French editions from my experience seem more interested in these kinds of stories – they have a few magazines dedicated to various disciplines.

These also might be interesting to look at as well

NY Times can also be open to such stories too.

Best in getting your story published !

Great work, Nicola! I started my exploration of Nepal 3 years ago from Langtang region. And I was captivated by Tamangs’ culture.
Try also Conde Nast Traveller magazine.
Good luck!
