GotVoice — access your U.S.-based voicemail from the net

GotVoice is a free service that lets you access your US-based home and mobile voicemail from any internet connection, via e-mail, their website, or both. It currently supports two phone numbers (which you can get around by using additional e-mail addresses to register multiple accounts) and, as far as I can tell, all major US carriers.

Had a little trouble setting up my NYC Verizon home voicemail… was apparently the first to sign up with that system. Really good tech support, though: they cracked the code in less than a day.

Hopefully they won’t start charging for the service. Even if they do, it has to be a hell of a lot less expensive than checking in from abroad.
