Overture Center’s commitment to fostering outstanding visual arts and
will open a new Playhouse Gallery exhibition.
Haiti Unmasked is a black and white photographic exhibition that
captures life, art and celebration in Haiti through the eyes of 12
domestic child labourers. The exhibit’s images, taken with plastic
cameras during a Kids with Cameras workshop, cover the grand spirit of
Carnival, as well as a personal complex self-portrait.
This selection of photographs from the Haiti photo project will be a
part of the International Festival on March 5. Madison based, Kids
with Cameras Haiti project director, Gigi Cohen will attend the event
from 2-4 PM. Photographs will be on display at the gallery from March
3 through April 30.
Kids with Cameras, (www.kids-with-cameras.org) is a non-profit
organization that empowers marginalized children through the art of
photography. (Founded by Academy Award® -winning director of Born
into Brothels, Zana Briski).
