A historic breakthrough occurred today regarding the notorious Japanese kisha club system which has always kept out foreign media, freelance media, and weekly magazines. This has been nothing short of censorship and unfair media practices.
The breakthrough, the press office of the Prime Minister of Japan announced:
“The Prime Minister’s residence has just annouced that it will open PM’s press conference to all media, including foreign media, web media, magazines, and freelancers, effective today, March 25, 2010. His firest “open press conference” is Friday evening, around 6 p.m., time to be announced officially later on.
The official website concerning this in Japanese is: www.kantei.go.jp/jp/notice/20100324/index.html
