Internships

Hi, my name is Allen Agostino. I have been shooting witht the intention of becoming a photojournalist for some time now and I really need to get the ball rolling I am hungry and feel ready. I was accepted to ICP for documentary photography and photojournalism. But I may not be able to go until next year. Anyways if I cannot I was looking for advice on where to seek internships; paid or unpaid(if the publication is notable). I am finding it very difficult to find anything online. I am also willing to relocate to do this.

If anyone wouldl like to see so me of my work or would be kind enough to give me a critique I would be happy to send my portfolio your way.

First, you need to determine your location. If it is unknown, as indicated in your profile, how would you know if you need to relocate? Perhaps you are already where you need to be?

If I were you, I wouldn’t necessarily go for an internship. With those you never know what to you’ll get and it might fulfil your expectations. If you are off college this year, make the most of it by getting a job either in photography, or anything else you can get and spent the rest of your time focusing on one topic throughout the year.
Also maybe try to become a member of an agency, it’s usually good way to get a little bit of extra cash.
It’s probably the only year you’ll have enough spare time to do such thing. and it freelance/practice are the best school to lern photography in my opinion.
While doing it, don’t be scared of contacting professional photographers and asking them for advice.

Thanks for the advice. Yea unfortunately I will not be able to attend icp this year. What photo agencies would u recommend?
