Is anybody out there?

Hello…

I’m having some trouble with the website: broken links, the inability to update or delete certain posts or personal information… Is anyone still here and running this show?

No. But there are still around some spectators.

The fixers seem to be running the show so only they can fix it.

Or maybe Barry can!

It’s a long story. Lightstalkers was a trailblazing website, in operation long before social media really crept into our lives. The founders have kept it limping along, but they have moved on to other ventures as their primary focus. Many of those active originally now operate on Facebook (there is a Lightstalkers/Nov 11 group). Some of us have explored with the founder the transfer of LS to another non-profit, but so far there have been no takers. Anybody who wants to take on management should speak up (better know Ruby on Rails programming).

Neal: Won’t happen. I used to give a quick hand to Shinji but running this (LS) is far too time consuming for asking anyone to do it for free, unless he really cares into the project itself. I don’t see that happening. My guess is Shinji did it for Teru (who I’ve never talked to).

It’s sad, but if the codebase hasn’t changed much since it’s been last updated, it’s probably very touchy. Moving from Rails2 to Rails4 is a lot of work, and since LS can’t pay anyone to do it, it’s difficult.

On top of that, anyone proficient in Ruby on Rails get 5 job offers per week.
