John Gimenez

His PDN contest posts are always un-replyable, so I’ve made a new thread. He pops up here every once and awhile and spreads his PDN contest info with their $35 entry fees and rules such as these. I understand he is some sort of big-wig at PDN but I like this site and I hate seeing the great content watered down with advertisements purporting to offer “great opportunities” for young photographers in exchange for their money and shitty deals:

“Such license is a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entries (along with a name credit). Authorized Parties will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such use.

I don’t think its fair to let people like him spread their contest info on lightstalkers without at least allowing for discussion in the original thread so we can point rules like the above out.

By the way, nothing says money-hungry than charging people $10 extra to send in their entries past the deadline. The original $35 doesn’t cover your costs?

once we loose our ego we may be able to make better images and over ride the necesity of being a winner in such contests
