Journalism grants, fellowships, awards

No deadline: Journalists from Afghanistan, Colombia, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Sudan interested in pursuing a peace building project can apply for a United States Institute of Peace grant. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis


No deadline : The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting funds international travel costs for reporting projects on topics of global importance, especially stories that are under-reported in mainstream U.S. media. Freelancers and journalists of any nationality or staff at print or broadcast outlets are eligible, as long as projects involve distribution in mainstream U.S. media. Travel grant amounts range from $3,000 to $20,000. Contact the Pulitzer Center


Journalism fellowships : The International Center for Journalists is seeking applicants for its one-year Knight Journalism Fellowships in Malawi , Senegal , Indonesia , Malaysia and Mozambique . The Fellows will lead projects in partnership with influential local media organisations aimed at improving coverage. Applicants should be senior journalists fluent in local languages


Online training : The International Journalists’ Network has a YouTube page allowing journalists across the world to access journalism training videos. The network also lists journalism courses.



Dec. 31: Deadline for submissions to United Nations Environmental Program journalism award . It is open to print journalists from developing countries who have written articles on ozone depletion prevention



Jan. 15 : Deadline for the 2010 Daniel Pearl Awards competition, which honours the world’s best cross-border investigative journalism. Entries must involve reporting in at least two countries on a topic of world significance


**Jan. 29: Deadline for the Dart Awards for Excellence in Coverage on Trauma.


Feb. 15: Deadline for UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize


Feb. 20-23 : The Asia Pacific region of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters, AMARC Asia Pacific, will hold its 2nd Regional conference and Assembly in Bangalore , India


**Feb. 25: Submissions deadline for Harry Chapin Media Awards for coverage of hunger and poverty
