Laos Fixer
|
I’ll be in northern Laos late Feb/early March. Looking for a fixer who knows the area with an emphasis on communities affected by cluster bombs left over from the Vietnam war.
Any insight in traveling/photographing in the region would be welcome, I’m flying in and out of Bangkok. you can email me at jax@jaxphoto.com
Thanks so much.

Generally speaking this is a well-worn topic and it might be hard to come up with anything different. Basically you’ll need the help of local NGOs (see my email) to get anywhere close. Locals who call themselves ‘fixers’ are likely to be suspect – especially the fast talkers with good English! All UXO clearance is done by government approved NGOs. Normally you’d need the permission of village heads before photographing in those areas. Good luck.

Nigel,
Got your email, thanks for the tips. good to know about locals offering themselves as fixers being suspect. I know I’m not reinventing the wheel here on this topic but I have an angle I’m pursuing for a bigger project, so hopefully it pans out. I’ll be sure and touch base with you if I end up stopping through Vientiane. Thanks so much.
