Laurent Van Der Stockt injured in Fallujah

Photjournalist Laurent Van Der Stockt has been injured (again!) yesterday in fallujah, I tried to get serious info by calling several people around the planet last night including a close friend in Baghdad. Laurent seems to be ok, apparently injured to the arm. as of yesterday evening he was still in a U.S. field hospital in Fallujah although one source told me there was a rumour he had already been moved back to Baghdad. CPIC will not say anything ‘to protect his privacy’. The one good news is that he managed to call a common friend in Paris to give him the info. Unfortunately, I couldn’t reach this friend last night but will do and post an update asap.

UPDATE:I just spoke to our common friend: Laurent has been injured to the left arm by a schrapnel during a foot patrol in Fallujah yesterday. He has been transfered last night to Baghdad. His condition is stable, and the wound has been cleaned up and stabilized. As he had been badly wounded before to the same arm, he will be operated in Paris by the surgeon who already fixed up his arm the first time, who is in contact with the American surgeon in charge in Baghdad. Laurent should be flown back to Paris either late today or tomorrow.

Bruno-

I heard a similar thing from a friend embedded in Fallujah now for AFP.   The word yesterday was a broken collar bone, due to an IED explosion.  I will try to get more and post it when I do.

Bests,

Stefan

Okay, one step ahead of me then.

Not great news, but could certainly be worse!
