Layout software?
|
Hey all— Looking for suggestions for layout programs. I have the old version of QuarkXpress, but need something OSX compatible so I can use color mgmt. stuff. Any suggestions? I’d rather not spring for the new Quark. Anyone used Illustrator and liked it?
I’m doing basic layout- 11×17 (more or less), image boxes, text boxes. Pretty simple.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

If you are familiar with X-Press you might as well want to take a look at Adobe In Design which does the same thing.

Cool. I was trying to decide between Pagemaker and InDesign. Does one have an advantage over the other?

Hm, I always worked with X-Press. Never tried PageMaker. And don’t know anybody within the graphic-design/layout world who uses it. Most still use X-Press, the rest now uses In Design. PageMaker is like the starter version of a layout prgoramm. But if you only do basic stuff it should be fine.

Just figured out Pagemaker only works in Classic. So that’s that. It’s between xpress and indesign.

I find Indesign, once you are familar with other adobe programs relatively easy to use.
