Links or Contact Info for FotoEspana

Anyone have any idea how to contact the people who run the FotoEspaña Festival in Madrid?  Googling the name doesnt seem to help.

Hey Alex, you back in Miami, then?  I tried thelink but for some reason I cannot download the site.  What is theURL?

It is odd, youwould think that a major festival like this would have a website and so on.  Why should it be so hard to contact these people?

You could try this link- http://www.clubphe.com/. This is the main site for PHotoEspana 2005, but as yet there is no listing for this year’s festival. I presume the contact details will be the same.

much obliged folks, Pablo muchissimas gracias.  The link for PHE club goes to the same site that Pablo mentions, but if you are not a "socio" you cannot enter.  However, after going to LaFabrica, I found the link to PHE 05 and there was another link for PHE06, the theme for which is going to be "naturaleza."  Here is what they have to say about it:

Comisario General
PHotoEspaña 2006

Basically, the theme for the upcoming festival is "nature" the variety and richness of representations of nature in our times, both as an esthetic object, such as in landscapes, but also thematically as something possibly opposed to culture and civilization  (as in Civilization and Its Discontents, whcih is basically the fundamental 20th century text for this theme).

Nothing is mentioned yet about submissions and so on, but I suppose that will appear eventually.

This is the web site for the 06 edition: www.phedigital.com

I guess most of the program is already closed, but maybe you can know more from Álvaro Matías (amatias@lafabrica.com) or Catherine Philippot (cathphilippot@photogr aphie.com)

THanks Carlos, actually that URL takes you to the same place I visited via the original URL, and with the same results: there is no clear statement other than the theme for 2006 about submissions or how to participate.  I did in fact already write to Álvaro, so maybe I will get some info that way.

Whole thing strikes me as a bit peculiar, that is, the lack of decent promotion and so on, but I suppose they havent quite opened it up to everyone yet . . .  or I am just missing something.  But to present a statement of the theme for 2006 without any other kind of information just seems odd.

Carlos since you live in Madrid you must know something more about it — any comments?

I’ve talked with a friend who knows very well the photography network in Spain but she couldn’t asnwer me how is made the portfolio submission in PhotoEspaña. This is really very peculiar because the festival has a lot of promotion here and good attendance from international press but nobody knows how it works. Tomorrow I’ll phone La Fábrica and I’ll let you know.

un abrazo

¡muy amable!  Muchas gracias.

I’ve talked with Álvaro from La Fabrica. The program of the festival  is always closed in december. The portfolio submission process works diferently according  to the art direction, which changes frequently. In previous editions there’s been a more photo documentary approach, with a conventional submission process, but also other ones centered in galleries and art curators. After the end of the festival (june) they announce the theme for the next year (this one is "nature") and begin to prepare the program. To submit a portfolio you can contact Giuletta Speranza, from La Fábrica, in september / october.

I hope this answer your questions. Please, let me know if I can help you. un abrazo,

Cuidate Carlos.
