I’m involved in an International Disaster and Crisis Response Organization. My main background is multimedia / Video & Stills and have worked worlwide as a private individual contributor.
I am also a qualified EMT within the Search and Rescue Team which deploys within 24 hours of disasters and crisis worldwide. The group is pending United Nations registraion, and is supported fully by a world wide luxury brand.
We’re interested in establishing contacts at News Agencies to feed them with images / video – being some of the first boots on the ground we will have exclusive access, and sought after video / pictures / reports. We are looking to establish the correct links, to provide the service and create a revenue stream as a result. The organisation is a not for profit.
We are also seeking to bring to the public, via credible news agencies, reports of global interest, in a responsible and timely manner. We are linking to academic institutions worldwide, to provide reseach and data to best inform and assist in the debate on best practice for disaster and crisis response.
The Director of the organisation is attached to the United Kingdom Cabinet Office as Project Director, Multi Agency Command Support, in the context of Major Incidents and Crisis – Disaster response.
I personally have no existing journalistic accreditation or contacts, with most my previous work being commercial marketing and NGO work.
Right now we’re looking at who to contact at which organizations (of course I’m aware of who the major news agencies are, however some direct initial contacts would be helpful), to establish a dialogue on further co-operation.
The orgisation will be offering:
> Dedicated (and perhaps a degree of exclusivity depending on the agreement) news reports, video and pictures direct from the field, often way before the arrival of other media, NGO and other official agencies. The organisation is willing to provide the feeds, and I am in charge of this aspect of the project moving forward. We will be providing live and also archival resources of great value.
> The potential to have some news / journalists from recognised news agencies, be trained alongside the organisations Search and Rescue operators, and so be able to embed and deploy live on missions, giving incredible access from the field.
Any advice, comments or contacts to approach would be appreciated.
