Managing Editor

MediaShift is looking for a managing editor to primarily run the MediaShift website, edit stories, work with contributors and maintain editorial tone. The job includes mostly copy editing work, as well as some writing and reporting. Will work closely with a small team. This contract job is conducted by telecommuting, and will require about 20 hours of work per week. Should be located in North or South America.

Job Requirements

> 5 years of editorial experience with an online publication with 50,000 unique visitors/month or more
> Extensive experience managing writers
> Excellent copy editing and proofreading skills
> Experience working with blog platforms, especially Movable Type
> Ability to do basic photo cropping and editing
> Knowledge of the media business, especially new forms of journalism and digital media

Associate Editor

MediaShift is looking for an associate editor to primarily run the Idea Lab website, edit stories, work with contributors and write a bi-weekly email newsletter. The job includes mostly copy editing work, as well as some writing and reporting. Will work closely with a small team. This contract job is conducted by telecommuting, and will require about 15 hours of work per week. Should be located in North or South America.

Job Requirements

> 3 years of editorial experience with an online publication with 50,000 unique visitors/month or more
> Extensive experience managing writers
> Excellent copy editing and proofreading skills
> Experience working with blog platforms, especially Movable Type
> Knowledge of the media business, especially new forms of local journalism and digital media
> Previous work experience or extensive knowledge of the Knight Foundation
