Need a Sat Phone
|
Hello,
I am looking for an older model Huges sat phone. I’m finding they’re hard to come by and would really appreciate it.
Let me know.
Thanks.

andrew, older thurayas are not around because they simply break down after a while and they re hard to fix once something is wrong with them. i d suggest to put your money in a new phone. the small new SO2105 or whatever it is goes for under 900 usd in the US.

Browse eBay and you’ll probably find the old Thuraya handsets.
I second Guy though, get the newer handsets SG-2510 or SG-2520. I use the SG-2520 but not fully pleased with it. Flakey software (Thuraya just released a software update, but haven’t installed it yet so can’t really evaluate the fixes). Make sure you get a couple of extra batteries as well since the handset drains them like crazy.

The Satellite Discount Store stopped renting sat phones at the end of October. They had some that they were selling. I used them for a rental last month and they’re quite good. They’re getting out of the rental business and will concentrate on just satellite service, fyi. Their number is 954-418-7940 (Florida).

They should have refurbished phones too.
