New calendar format!
|
Hey gang, check it out — resident designer Eugene has spiffed up the Calendar… what do you think?
The calendar — especially grant or award deadlines — is a really key feature of Lightstalkers, and we’d appreciate any feedback. We want it to be easy for you to browse listings, as well as submit new ones you think are appropriate. Let us know!
PS: You can “subscribe” to the Lightstalkers calendar via iCal or Sunbird … pretty cool!

Shinji and Eugene,
If the calendar could be made better, you did it. I haven’t tried the submission feature, and probably won’t, but I really like the ability to click on a deadline and see what is coming up. A great supplement to iCal as well.

Word! Great job on the calendar – I like how it gives details for the week at a glance!
|
Cool, thanks guys. Eugene did a really nice job with this. It’s all in the details, you know?
Now we just need to get peeps to keep this calendar full of good stuff!

Hey Shinji, et. al.: (Whose Al?)
Just wanted to publically say what I’d written to you in e-mail — The changes to the CALENDAR are awesome!
I’ll keep my eyes out for int’l stuff taking place on this side of the Pacific pond to list. There are some Aussie citizen/resident portrait comps coming up but they’re for exhibition/acquisition and I haven’t noticed too many people checking in & updating their presence here from Oz. Seems like posting those deadlines, etc. would just be sucking up bandwidth/space.
Let me know if I’ve got the wrong concept there & I’d be happy to plunk then up.
Cheers to you all,
D

thanks didi!
You should definitely post whatever you’ve got; the more information we have, the better! You’re right that we don’t have a large Aussie contingent yet, but regional competition listings are exactly the sort of thing to draw them in. Basically, if it’s interesting to you, assume that it will be interesting to someone else. You know?
As far as cluttering the Calendar, you can let us worry about that. :-) We’ll just keep tweaking the interface as events accumulate, and try to make sure it stays clear.

I second Shinji’s encouragement: I don’t think anyone would mind having a thoroughly international calendar of deadlines and shows and calls for entries, etc. And for all matter of content providers as well (designers, illustrators, videogrpahers, writers, etc.).
We’ve all got friends/colleagues we can pass these things on to.
|
Okay, you are both great convincers…
I’ll grab the info stats & post some up when I’ve some free time this weekend.
Hey, speaking of new projects — do my eyes deceive, or has someone here done some new-fangled work on how the gallery index (or indices if plural) displays?
Thought I’d recalled it was in a horizontal format, but just now I noticed a vertical display instead. Wazzup widdat — am I dreaming or is this new too?
|
hm. that’s an interesting thought. if things get too international, maybe there can be a sorting option by continent to see what’s going on where? but i third the encouragement to load up the calendar with anything you’ve got.
i have some tweaks to the calendar once i get a moment, actually, but i’ll send those to shinji under separate cover. :-)

oh, i’m sure we’ll have to deal with that problem at some point — we can probably do it like we do the Member Directory, selectively filtering things out… but we’ll see!
