Non-Business: guide horses

I just learned that there is a web site dedicated to ‘guide-horses.’ This is not work-related, but I thought it might inspire some folks.

I am inspired/weirded-out by it!

Incredible. Of course what comes to mind, for me, is, can you have them as pets? Fortunately, I’m sighted, and on most days can guide myself more or less well, but I think what my dog really needs is a companion HORSE.

Speaking as someone who shoots horses for a living, I can say that horses can be just as responsive and “understanding” as dogs (maybe not with quite similar skill sets) but nonetheless with some work they can be just as therapeutic once you understand the mind so to speak.

A fellow horse photographer (Candace Craw Goldman) did some work with a group of therapy miniature horses with the hearts and hooves foundation http://www.heartsandhooves.org/.
