This article is worth checking out; it doesn’t just apply to the NYC subways but to an ever more repressive environment for photographers, documentary filmmakers and journalists. With ‘public’ spaces and access to them ever more restricted and under surveillance it is an issue that affects us all. We live now subject to an endless state of emergency, manipulated through fear and hysteria….the ‘color coded alerts’ were perfect examples. While doing almost nothing to actually prevent terrorisim, they seemed to magically take place whenever the Bush administration needed to distract the public from news which reflected unfavorably on them…..meanwhile our freedoms and basic civil liberties erode; literally before our very eyes.
