I have worked in that area just after 9/11 the best place to go is it the tribal areas outside Peshawar I got a fixer to take me there on the side roads as it is not legal to go there on your own.
But I did it with a local fixer so it is possible we made an interview with the Mayer of the town and then he got some of his staff to show us around the town and shops and it all ended up with us standing on top of a house shooting an AK47 at the mountains great fun ….
