There are many competent PJs in Manila with their own equipment, Sherri. (I started my career and worked in the Philippines for 11 years before migrating to the US last year.) I copy-pasted your post in the Philippine Center for Photojournalism’s version of LS. I hope you don’t mind.

Hi, Sherri!
I’m a photographer and writer based in Manila. I can do both the photographs for this assignment while providing the necessary editorial content as well. I’ve done work for a number of local glossy magazines, am a crack writer having been seasoned in public relations and radio broadcasting, and I’ve also done some work for NGOs like the Microfinance Council of the Philippines in tandem with the Asian Institute of Management to document microfinance operations in very hard to reach areas of the Philippines. I did this quite alone. I have also begun a relationship with World Vision and will also be doing some work for them next week. Fortunately, that will not be in conflict with your schedule.
Obviously, I am very interested in this assignment.

Hi Sherri, am surprised to see that some of my contemporaries had posted their desire to help you with your photography needs. So … might as well join the bandwagon. Am currently a photo editor for an online news network here in the Manila. I’ve done several documentaries and the latest was in 2005 when the advocacy group I was working with was commissioned by the Department of Agriculture and the Biotechnology Coalition of the Philippines to document the advent of biotechnology in agriculture in the Philippines. The project lasted for one whole year. Prior to that, I have been taking pictures for several newspapers, magazines and news agencies. Anyway, just taking chances here. You can view some of my travel works at: http://www.nakakayamot.blogspot.com http://www.gmanews.tv
A million thanks and best regards

As I try documenting hunger (me included ;)) in the Philippines for most of my photographic life, its a shame not to do a project with FAO. Well, I’m most interested. And if I may not make it in your selection, It would be a pleasure interacting with you FAO guys for I may get a new perspective on how to look at this dreadful menace that’s been plaguing us.
best,
jes
