photographer needs help battling disease

Rocky Mountain News photographer Steve Nickerson is battling a rare and life-threatening disease. There’s talk of a promising treatment, but it’s expensive and the insurance companies won’t pay for it.

The staff of the Rocky is having a print auction with all proceeds going toward Steve’s treatment fund. They are currently accepting prints from anyone, and asking for any image that you are proud of and will hopefully generate a high bid is welcome. To date we have a number of Pulitzer-winning images, work from Eugene Richards, Jim Natchwey, Joe Rosenthal and many others, but more are needed. (Note: Prints can’t be returned if they don’t sell.)

The print auction is March 26, but they’d like prints by March 23rd. And if you’re donating a signed picture they’d prefer a framed photo if you are in the area, but if you’re sending one from out of town and don’t want to ship a framed picture, please send a matted photograph, in standard sizes, to:
