Dear Maddalena!

refugee camps in Turkey and the “heart of conflict” are two very opposite places. While you only have to deal with the rough turkish security regulation when reporting on the refugee issue, Syria is a bit different from that. Since early 2012 it becomes a very dark place for jorunalists. Until summer we just had to be careful not to get caught by government forces. Now you have additionally deal with some islamistic groups acting independent from the FSA circles. The Air Force constantly drop bombs all over the country. Any idea what that looks like? Syria is a deadly place and it is necessary to report on that tragedy. But ask yourself whether your are ready to do that job and to put your life in such a great danger right now? For what image is it worth to get killed for? The chance to get killed are not hypothetical! Do you have knowledge and training for war reporting and to escape life threatening situations? There is nobody around and able to get you out if something goes wrong, even bandages are rare if you need something to stop a bleeding…

Stay safe!
