Pictures Abroad

I’m planning to join the Peace Corps after college graduation in December. I’ve been studying journalism and photojournalism and plan on taking a lot of pictures while in the Corps. I’m not sure yet where they will send me or what the living will be like (internet, electricity, etc.), but what would be the best way to save all of my pictures? I don’t think buying a new laptop would be the best option, but I do need some way to transfer pictures from my camera to some sort of external backup device. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
