Ah, how to rush forth to take pictures away from your area, you ask. Well pick-up your Iphone/camera and call your airport, bus station, car rental agency or maybe even hitchhike.
|
O.k., now Mr. Rushforth (you really are trying to live up to your name, aren’t you?), the first two questions I would ask you are; 1). what stories do you want to tell? 2). Who would you like to see them once you figure out what they are?
What do you want to tell stories about? Sports? Economics? Global warming? What? Then, ask who might want to see these stories. Do they read magazines? Websites? Do they contribute to charities? Are they academics, or some other specialized group? Once you figure out what you want to say, to whom, and who can deliver these stories to the public you’d like to reach, try to get in touch with those people, and ask them if they want to buy the work you’ve done. At some point, they may decide that you can produce what they think their audience wants, then they may ask you to do something for them. They might even offer to pay you ahead of time. Till then, start shooting stuff, try to sell it, and keep repeating that until something happens.
|
I suggest that you start with stories closer to home. Build your credibility and skills. Then think about travel. Nobody’s gonna pay you unless you deliver some real value to them, and there are plenty of photographers who are proven producers with whom you are competing. It’s a tough world; nobody’s gonna do you a favor until you have a proven production.

and…post some personnel info and pics…why would anyone help an invisible wannabe?
|
Bored open for distraction and simply curious as to why someone would post such a question on this site unwilling to give any info other then name as an identity…
The most obvious Jed Rushforth that appears on the mighty web is a ’ family therapist ’ who is married to Tiffany a ’ family photographer ‘. Oh and on facebook Jed’s picture identity appears to be that of a young orangutan. JED tell us something more, like who are you?

Tip #1: Don’t forget your toothbrush.
Gary, he can’t be an orangutan. All the orangutans I know are called Clyde. I reckon he might be a hillbilly who fell into money and has a place next door to a banker in Beverly Hills. Probably plays a mean banjo too.
Tip #2: Be careful in West Virginia.
|
Mike, my grandfathers name was Clyde and I’m told that I have a resemblance to him around the eyes, also he was more of a carnivorous, I’m pretty certain orangutans are omnivores.
Jed help me out!
