POV Call for Entries Broadcast Season 2012

POV, television’s longest-running showcase for independent nonfiction films, seeks works released within the past four years to premiere in the 2012 broadcast season of its annual PBS series. All subjects, aesthetic approaches, and lengths are welcomed. POV selects between 14 and 16 films annually through a rigorous review process involving independent media professionals, public television station programmers, and PBS. POV works with the selected filmmakers to craft a strategic broadcast plan—including but not limited to a national press campaign; outreach and educational activities in partnership with public television stations, educators, and community-based organizations; and a stand-alone website—to provide the best possible springboard for each film. Completion funding may be available for unfinished films.

All submissions must arrive by 6 pm, Thursday, June 30, 2011. Please note: This is an arrival deadline, not a postmark deadline. All submissions received after June 30 will be considered for the following year’s submission cycle unless an extension is granted by POV.
