Powerbook 17" > $2000

Hi all
Down here in Ecuador a guy is offering me a brand NEW  17" Powerbook for $2000  (maybe less)
I’ve  already seen themand   are  brand new. At that price will assume its "grey market" or    "they  felt from a truck"

Do you know if I’ll have trouble with warranties or other problems?
I have a 2 year old 15" how "portable" can a 17" be?

Course, you could just wait and buy the new Macbook pro, "starting at" $1999.00 when you get back to the US:

Looks sweet.

I feel it’s a good investment to get AppleCare for laptops. They get dragged and bounced about so much that the problem possibility is much greater than with a desktop. As far as “other problems”? I have found in my life that karma is a friggin’ boomerang. Maybe I’m a wuss, but I tend to avoid those shady, too good to be true, purchases.

I agree with Jon on the Macbook pro. I think they were announced like a few hours ago. Look pretty damn sweet. Speedy little intel thingies. Should have a lot more battery life than current generation powerbooks as well. It’s also hard to find a carrying solution for a 17". They’re way to big in my opinion.

Right, anything that looks too good to be true, probably is, and I too like the idea of the warranty (though mine has run out,and knock wood, the old iBook still runs true).  I know I have to buy a new laptop myself one of these days, and this one looks like it might be the one.  Plus 15" is a good size.  My ibook is 12, and while I am perfectly used to it now, the 15 is a bit more comfortable to work with.  17 seems a luxury to me.

This MacBook   Pro looks great . Fast, long battery life, built in camera, brighter screen, AND CHEAPER.
I hope that Intel chip generates less heat than the G4. My b—-s……………lap will appreciated it !!
I post this message before the anouncement of the MacBook. I think this will be the way to go. It will cost the same PLUS I will have that good Karma ( always welcome)
