pricing job

Hi there,

I need to quote a price for photography for book which will be published by german editorial. The book will be about communication between men and kats. So they need pictures of cats in motion and in connection with men or other animals. They would like to see 600 pictures to make selection of 60 that will be included in book. The print run is 50.000 How shell I price it? Thanks for any suggestion.

one image, 1/2 page (1/2 of a book´s A4-standart size) you would be good payed getting 130,- Euro (1/4 page around 100,-). Expect an offer from the publisher around 30-50,- Euro. So negotiate and don´t alow them to cheat you…! But you should know, it´s a though book market in Germany.

May I ask what pulishing house your´re dealing with? There are so many around in Germany. Some with fair contracts others deal more like discounters.
