I’m having the same issue. I can’t see any pictures on lightstalkers, neither galleries nor the faces of people in my personal network.

Anybody else?

I checked mine, and I do see only pictures of mine from Flickr, but not those I uploaded to LS.

There must be something wrong with the system itself.

Still broken… anyone know anything?

by Martin Mraz | 23 Dec 2011 18:12 | Prague, Czech Republic | | Report spam→
The only images I can see from my end is the profile images of my personal network. I do not see my profile picture nor any of the gallery images I have uploaded. Since I see Flickr images of mine, it must be something to do with the interface between the image loading. This is not a good time to contact the support. After Monday, someone needs to contact a real person in the US. All the persons who complained so far are in Europe. What about the people in the US?

Kind of peculiar this permanence from the guys who run this site not to involve on discussions about its various (and lately many) problems.
I don’t mean that “WE THE CUSTOMERS DEMAND A SOLUTION RIGHT NOW” or something, but a simple involvement just to make clear
that this site is alive and not dead would be more than welcome.

Sorry to say that but this hush translates somehow like “fuck you”.

Jonnek, who do you think is running the site? Long-time captain Shinji Kuwayama said his goodbyes earlier this year

by Karl Badohal | 28 Dec 2011 23:12 | Krakow, Poland | | Report spam→
Karl, I’ve read that.
Somewhere at the end of his post, the long-time captain mentions that he passed the keys to some other guys. Did you noticed that?
If i am wrong, then what the heck are we doing here if no one is responsible for technical issues that gradually make this site totally inhospitable?
I mean, what’s the point for posting “Oh, the photos of the galleries are gone, WHY?”, or “The p.m. system is messed up, HOW’S THAT?”..
If you mean that LS is totally abandoned then it would be nice to know it via an official announcement in order to help or go somewhere else to
have fun about scarfs and Ms.

Jonnek, Shinji mentioned his brother Teru and Balazs Gardi, plus November 11, but it wasn’t really an official changing of the guard. My gut feeling is that lightstalkers is running on inertia… Anyway I sent Teru an email today to find out who’s in charge.

“Mayday, Mayday! Hello. Can you hear us? Can… You… Hear… Us? Can you… Over.”

This is a free service. We are entitled to nothing. There have been many posts about things not working. If you (we) care so much, how about paying enough money to employ someone to fix them? Lightstalkers has been very generously provided and maintained at no cost for a long time now.

by DPC | 29 Dec 2011 12:12 | Paris, France | | Report spam→
DPC, relax dude,

For my part, I never meant just to complain about problematic services and I think I acknowledge the fact of the generous provide over the years.
My problem is the systematic absence from the guys who run the site, the avoidance of involvement, when members of this “family” start threads
regarding technical problems that occur all the time.
You talk about money and I say that if someone had made an announcement like: “finally in order to preserve the services of this site we need money”,
then that could be a possible decisive solution either way, if this money gathered or not. But I never saw such an announcement, none.

I understand what you say, although I really cannot realize what this “free service” that you mentioned is all about anymore.

“I understand what you say, although I really cannot realize what this “free service” that you mentioned is all about anymore.”

Yep, that’s the real question, isn’t it?

The pictures are all back thanks to Shinji working quietly in the shadows!

We’re back in business…thank you Shinji !!!

The pictures are back, but while I can create a new gallery, I can’t add any pictures to it…

Hahaha- no work on today so I thought I’d take a rare visit to LS and this is the first post I arrive at. Clearly it’s not dead ‘Lightstalkersisdead’, just resting like me.

I think you may be a tad harsh in your assessment of why people use LS or indeed any photo forum. Personally I use it to increase my knowledge, share my many years of experience with others and to find out what boots and scarves I should be wearing to stay current ;-)

Nope-I’m alive and well and so is my wife Sue ;-)

I think it just needs some time, my understanding is that those who maintain the site are doing it solo. There have been intermittent outages for the past week or so.

Hmm-is that why your so busy replying to every single post then ‘Lightstalkersisdead’ ? Hahaha-hoist by your own petard. Now get out and there and do some work!

Who you calling lazy? You don’t even know me. I suggest you suspend your childish attacks on LS and get a life instead!

It’s easy to say stupid things on an e-mail forum. Would you say it to my face Mr anonymous ‘Lightstalkersisdead’?
Nope, I thought not!

by JR, (John Watts-Robertson). | 10 Jan 2012 13:01 | rothwell, United Kingdom | | Report spam→
By the way-a job just came in which I’m off to cover now. But I expect you will be long gone next time I log into LS. If your ever in the UK ‘Lightstalkersisdead’ do drop by and I’ll introduce you to my fist you knobhead!

You might be falling into his(her?) trap JR! Most foul smells, even the smell of death, blow by with a little bit of patience, and silence, from us.

Looks like your wrong and the infantile ‘Lightstalkersisdead’ has decided to take a break from his or her ridiculous activities Christopher. I reserve the right to fight my corner when mutants like ‘Lightstalkersisdead’ start calling me names like ‘lazy’.

Could Lighstalkerisd’ickh’ead be Stupid Photographer?

Fair enough, JR.

by Christopher Scrivens | 10 Jan 2012 18:01 | New Jersey, United States | | Report spam→
Cheers Christopher ;-)
The thought that it might be ‘Stoopid’ occurred to me too. But who cares! Clearly some deranged individual with a grudge against Lightstalkers and other photographers in general.

I’m an admin at https://www.facebook.com/groups/107087062655267 and any silly buggers using assumed names or behaving in a similar disruptive and childish fashion get booted out pronto. It’s only open to professional photographers or photography students and we do check people out to make sure they are what they say they are. Maybe LS needs to tighten up on it’s membership procedures-I’m sure anonymous trolls on here DO put people off.
