secondhand Canon MKII versus new 6D?

Hi Lightstalkers,

Am cracking my brains over what is best. Will travel soon and need to invest (have first generation 5D). Should I buy a secondhand MK II or go for the newer technology of the Canon 6D? I know the video on the 6D has been reviewed as “bad”, but I’m not using any video in my work at the moment…but I do work in low light a lot…Anyone looked at the same options? Would love to hear your feedback! Many thanks, Rosa.

Two things to consider about the 6D is the size & builtin GPS. It’s smaller, and lighter by a considerable margin, and the GPS really helps tagging the otherwise often-forgettable places.

Unless you are comparing it to a MK3, there’s no reason for you to get a second hand MKII over the 6D.

The 6D is not as well made as the 5D Mk2. Get a low mileage (kilometerage?) 5D Mk2.
