581 Should journalists endorse candidates for President? I suppose that all depends on whether or not the fate of the world depends on who wins. Despite what many traditional "objective" journalists (who preach nihilism as religion) would have you believe, some ideas are, in fact, better than other ideas, such as the world being spherical as opposed to being flat, or the world not being the center of the universe as opposed to it being the center of the universe. Would you believe that many people used to think otherwise? Many still do. The fact of the matter is, you can objectively say that some ideas are in fact better than other ideas just as some candidates are in fact better than other candidates despite what half, or even most people think. Just because a lot of people believe in a lie doesn't mean that it's true. If you're not being upfront about your bias as a journalist, even if you're wrong, then you're just bluffing and bullshitting people so that more people will accept you, rather than telling the truth. Honesty is the best policy.
