"Terrorism video advises reporting photographers"
|
I think the subject line / headline misleads, don’t you? In this day and age, when so many of us photographers and photojournalists are frequently harassed and interfered with, I guess it’s understandable that the original poster felt that his headline was correct. But it was not. The video to which he refers does not advise “reporting photographers” at all. In fact, the visual images that accompany the video that is referred to makes it quite clear to any intelligent humanoid that it is suspicious activity that should be advised. Let’s not exaggerate the onslaught against our right to make images in public places by creating a drama that is not supported by the evidence. I despise the paranoia against public photography as much as the next guy. But to create the impression that “photographers must be reported” is 100% wrong in this case and simply adds fuel to an already simmering fire.
